I am passionate about cooking from scratch and since starting a family myself I want to cook delicious healthy food for all of us to enjoy. However I get bored of the recipes I make and want inspiration from other mumma's out there too! fffI have written 4 cook books Honestly Healthy, Honestly Healthy for Life, Honestly Healthy Cleanse and Honestly Healthy in a Hurry and when falling pregnant with my little boy Rudy i decided that I wanted to take a break which I did for a year and now this is my new baby! As the weeks start blending into each other and time really starts to just tick away I found myself getting more and more stressed at work. It was like a rug was ripped from under with me and the foundations of my business just disappeared. However my wonderfully supportive husband told me to use this as a way to go in a different direction and stop making the same mistakes. So with a lot of resistance from me (I am not good with change!) looking back it’s the best thing that could have happened and slowly starting to feel more in control again.
When people ask ‘oh when are you taking your maternity leave’ I want to cry! ummm sorry love when you have your own very small business there is no maternity leave!!! When you say that they tut at you and say that you will never get the time back and you must take time off but when you are the only person that makes the money in your business what are you suppose to do?
With all of that happening I had a freak out as I didn’t feel my baby move much one day which was very out of character. I now know it was stress related which was a big wake up call in itself! It was a Friday night and I had a bath, drank cold water lay on my side but still nothing. I called the JR hospital and then suggested I come in to be monitored. As soon as they put the monitor on me the baby started to move around like crazy (really didn’t like it) I felt a little like an idiot but its always better to be safe than sorry. What I have personally realized though is that the baby is very effected by what I am doing. So if I do something out of my normal routine the baby might be quieter than normal.
As the baby starts to grow so does the uterus and everything gets more and more squished including your lungs! Walking up the stairs is near impossible now, bending down to tie your laces, leaning forward to eat a plate of food (your clothes will constantly be covered in food as it is impossible to lean forward and I keep missing my mouth!) are things that cause to feel like you have run a marathon. It also happened to me that I ‘couldn’t breath’ one night in bed which caused me to panic so I turned to my hypnobirthing cd’s which really helped to calm me down and fall asleep.
THE ROD OF FIRE
Yup it is what is says on the tin. When my baby punched or kicked me in the vagina from the inside it felt like a rod of fire being shoved up there. Oh and now that happens all the time if the baby is in a funny position. Welcome to the joys of pregnancy!
Time to book a babymoon – we decided not to go abroad and do two weekends in the uk instead. Limewood spa was our first port of call which was utterly heaven. They cater for pregnancy and the treatments were amazing…. Worth every penny. The thalaso spa was heaven to be in water all day – the weightless feeling was wonderful. I never wanted to leave and neither did the husband or our dog lottie!
We also booked the Scarlet in Cornwall for next month….
